  • okay so today was CRAZY, I'm not going to lie.

I do have to say that being promoted has finally kicked in and I am running around the store even more than I was before.

One thing that I do have to comment on is that being friends with people in my department and then being promoted as their boss, is a HUGE change.  It is so weird that I have been active as a team lead for a week (not even) and am already getting crap from certain people.  It is going to be hard and I know t hat some of my friendships will def. be challenged because I am higher up, but really if you th ink about it: if they do their job, then it should be fine. but lets all face the harsh reality

some people just don't do their job.

Most of the people that I work with are there to get a pay check and that's it.  There is no extra effort to make things run smoothly.  There is not oh, well I'll help you with this and then we'll get it done faster, its more like well i'm done with my stuff so check ya later.  It is really annoying that the moto for Dick's Sporting Goods is 'be a team player' and yet we hire people that don't care.  Now I know that this might sound weird because this is not what I want to be doing for the rest of my life, but I do have to say that I work my butt off at this job in order to make it better.  I thought that's what everyone did at work.

HELLO, that's why its called WORK.

I mean really this job isn't really all that hard either.  Check the fitting rooms every hour, check returns as much as possible--put the close back on hangers, put them back out on the floor in the correct spot.  Customer service as much as possible, and really..just making sure that stuff isn't all over the place.  That's it. GIVE ME A BREAK.

For example: put women's adidas clothing in the women's adidas pad (area where all the women's adidas clothing is located) look around to find the same exact item, walk over, hang it back up in size order.

                                ..really, it's not rocket science..

Yeah there are projects and such that have to be complete, but usually those are done in a group to get them completed faster (thats what is hoped for at least).  And/or they are done by the team lead.

I just really hate the fact that the working class have lowered their work ethic.  That is really what it boils down to with me.  Why go to work if you are not going to work?  Why should I not write you up, if you are not doing what you are getting paid to do?!

    *sigh*

This is going to be harder than I thought.

  • Alright, so I'm keeping my word and I'm writing on xanga again.

I decided..not really I was forced to take the semester off..to work and to get some money in my name because of bills and what not.  It's not really all that funny of a story, it was me being stupid and not asking my advisor questions about student teaching for next semester.  Basically, I did not take a Cerification test on time in order to student teach, SOOOOOOOO I had to take the test this Jan. and I have to postpone my student teaching until the fall.  Which has turned out to be a good idea.

I have been working at the same place for three years now.  Usually it was just during my breaks but seeing that I have a whole 7 months off and doing nothing, it was a great opportunity to actually move upward with that.  I am now a team lead ( so I have people underneath me and I am able to show my leadership skills and eat lunch with the 'big dogs').  It is a lot of responsibility, but I am looking forward to it.  It is also a very BIG raise which comes in very good time!

I am also glad to be just working because my second oldest sister is pregnant and is about to pop anytime now.  It's really weird to see her pregnant.  I know that this might sound really weird, but for once its nice to have the attention off of my weight and have everyone's attention on my sisters weight.  She is suppose to gain weight, just like any other pregnant woman, but with each person there is a different amount of weight that is 'good weight' to be gained.  She has gone over that limit, and for once, I think that Mel actually sees a side of my life that she n ever has really gotten before.  For those of you who don't know, Mel has always been the smallest of the sisters.  She is completely different from my odlest sister Andrea and myself.  She never has had a problem with weight and she's always been rude, and making comments about my weight and 'how come you can't just stop eating' stuff like that.  So I'm glad that she gained the weight, because after she pops maybe she'll get a dose of what I have gone through most of my life, the hardship of actually shedding the weight and keeping it off for good.  Hopefully she'll come out of this whole experience with a better understanding of what all I have gone through.  We shall see.

My oldest sister Andrea is pregnant again!  After having Wesley (their first child) Andrea and her husband had talked about having another baby, but it wasn't happening.  The worst thoughts came up about them not being able to have anymore.  After all, Wesley was the 'miracle' in their life.  After three years of trying they actually got pregnant with Wesley, and they were actually happy for once.  So this is good news, but it also brings more frustration with their living situation.  They need a bigger house.  That's all there is to it!

My brother Dave had another little one, a girl Olivia Jean.  They were actually on their way to the hospital and his wife told him to pull over she was gonna have this baby!  So he did and at the rest stop (truck stop/resturant) Dave delivered his little girl into the world.  Pretty funny story, they even had a news paper article printed about it.  He seems to be happy and his wife too.  Every picture of him and Olivia, he seems so exhausted.  I feel bad for him. He goes to work pretty early in the morning, and then he comes home to his oldest son Nick (who is Autistic) and Alex who is starved for attention..and now Olivia plus handy work around the house along with a wife that wants attention from him also..

That's it for now, I'll write later.

  • HELLO INTERNET PEOPLE..

Wow has it been FOREVER since I've written here at Xanga.

I thought, seeing that I'll be at home working for the next 7 months, that I would start this back up again to try and be more connected with people since leaving school.  I feel that I have let friendships go ka-put because I am 'too busy' or have some other fucked up excuse.

There is no excuse any longer.  I am going to try my hardest to write in here as much as possible while I am at home.  It is time for change.

Good things come with change..or so I'm told.

So to encourage me to continue writting comments would be fantastic!  Hope to hear from you all sooner than later.

About Me

  • Dreams surely are difficult, confusing, and not everything in them is brought to pass for mankind. For fleeting dreams have two gates: one is fashioned of horn and one of ivory. Those which pass through the one of sawn ivory are deceptive, bringing tidings which come to nought, but those which issue from the one of polished horn bring true results when a mortal sees them.~Homer
